Christmas time is here!

It is such a struggle to keep Jesus the main thing during Christmas in our society. Everyone is so caught up in the meaningless, make you warm and fuzzy things that have rapidly taken over Christmas. We decided early on that Christmas is going to be totally about Jesus in our family. We do have a tree and stockings. But we are using these things to bring us back to the manger and the reason He came. By next year I want to find a good Children's book that tells the history of Saint Nicolas. I want to tie his sacrificial giving in with the ultimate sacrificial giving that God showed to us. I pray that Christmas will be a time of giving...giving of our selves to others sacrificially just like God showed us. We won't do the whole Santa thing, or the huge present thing. We are not going to lie to our children and we certainly want our children to be grateful. We have found that among Christians we are a tiny minority and we have been looked down upon. But as hard as it may seem it is a lie. While most Christians are teaching their children about Jesus they are also lying to them about Santa. To a child how can they know what is real? Especially when believing in Jesus will be the most important decision they will ever make. A decision between life and death.
